Morton 71 – Hinsdale South 55
West Suburban Gold Conference opener for both teams. Harvard signee Weisner Perez was a man playing with teenagers, he owned the base-line netting 29 points, probably missed three shots the entire night. South had no answer for him. Promising junior prospect 6-8 Barret Benson from Hinsdale South seems to be a terrific kid, finished with 16 points – 6 boards & 2 blocks was sort of smitten by the athleticism and quickness of the Morton squad. We will continue to watch his progress throughout the season, he did display a nice shooting touch 12-15 feet! Morton’s six foot two point guard Dexter Dale bagged 16 points – 11 assists -7 rebounds -4 steals, he was impressive. Morton 4-2 lost to East St. Louis on Sunday in the Team Rose Classic. They were no match for 6-11 sophomore Jeremiah Tilmon, the no. 1 player in our state’s 2017 class.
