Chicago Public High-Schools
Conference Showdown
Uplift 67 (Overtime) Lincoln Park 66 (10:00am)
Senior guard Jeremy Roscoe’s three pointer in overtime at the buzzer helped Uplift survive a late rally from the Lion’s. A sloppy played red-north affair, where both teams shot poorly throughout the contest. Uplift had a double digit lead going into the fourth period, but couldn’t sustain the margin, they allowed a token press by the Lion’s to dismantle their rhythm. Uplift was once projected to be one of the area’s top teams this season, but seemed to lack the cohesiveness they often displayed the previous two seasons. Lincoln Park a sagging program, once the golden-child of the public league just under 10 years ago, good academics and competitive hoop was their trademark. Now they linger in obscurity playing a schedule that co-exists with the likes of blue/white division caliber teams. The program is truly lacking quality leadership from the top-bottom, self-inflicted with an egotistic micro-managing coach who masquerades around as if he’s Rob Smith (Simeon) or Ty Slaughter (Young). The alarming twist to this is they’ve proven the kids they coach will never be a priority, “I know this first hand!” Daniel Soetan of Uplift looks like a gem after a year or two of junior college. Roscoe finished with 10 points while transfer Spencer Foley tossed in sixteen. Lincoln Park was led by new comer James Morris who tallied 21 and junior Miles Curry finished with 20 points while 6-5 forward Ibrahim Dosunmu registered 20 rebounds!
