No. 3 Morgan Park 77 - No. 4 Bogan 73
Morgan Park prevailed in a highly anticipated battle that I’m sure the Bogan cast had circled on their calendars for months. Marcus LoVett did not disappoint the capacity crowd, he registered 20 second half points including eight consecutive points to open the third quarter. But Bogan guard Luwane Pipkins (28 pts) showed he’s no slouch, he came with his A game, Pipkins even stripped LoVett a few times surprising the California transfer with his quick hands. Bogan’s Antonio Thomas had a stellar outing recording 22 points and ten boards, but highly touted junior James Jones couldn’t get himself on-track finishing with 10. The unsung hero for Morgan Pk was junior guard Jarrin Randle a Bogan killer, he had another career performance against the Bengals draining four 3 pointers in the first quarter while finishing with twenty points. The other half of Morgan Park back-court duel, junior Charlie Moore continues to show why he is by far the top play-maker in the 2016 class, chipped in with 19. Even when he doesn’t shoot well from the field, he provides other ingredients to his team, the mark of a winner. If Bogan hopes to be considered a contender for downstate contention in March, they will have to get consistent play from junior guards James Jones and Bryce Barnes while senior general Tom Johnson has to cut-back on costly turn-overs. Barnes needs a confidence boost he’s been struggling of late.
