Game Summary – Friday, December 12th, 2014
St. Rita 80 – St. Joseph 61
This was supposed to be billed as a prime-time game, but stand-out St. Joes Guard Glynn Watson was out with an injury and back-court mate Joffery Brown did not suit-up either for reasons unknown, while St. Rita post-man Myles Carter was out with a wrist injury. Meanwhile, I suffered a bad migraine just watching a couple of guys strut around the court as if they were big-timers, staring down referees as if they are feared assassins. Some of us view St. Rita’s under-achieving Charles Matthews as a prima donna, time will only tell for a kid with enormous potential. In fact he seems to carry a burden of pressure on his shoulders every outing, just a glimpse of his play you can see he’s often trying to make the spectacular play instead of a winning play. Just charting him this night where he recorded 32 points & 10 rebounds, but it still wasn’t the kind of performances that’s going to silence critics. Jordan Ash scored 25 and grabbed nine boards. Ash will be contributing next season at Northwestern, he has a good feel for the game and displays the ability to perform in a system geared towards his abilities. St. Joe’s heralded 2016 post-man Nick Rakocevic pretty much was a no show! Armani Chaney added 19 for St. Rita while Kain Harris chipped in 17. “Very ragged affair!
