Conference Showdown:
Kenwood 61 – Hyde Park 40
This ball-game was billed as a neighborhood scrap for bragging rights, but it became evident immediately that Kenwood had the game under-control from the start. The Bronco’s rallied behind thirteen first half points from senior guard Jelani Sankey who drained three trey’s at a pivotal point during the opening half. Hyde Park 6 foot 2 Martin Oliver (17 pts) tried to inject some life into his team by making some shots, even though he went 4-12 from the field, he played hard. Bronco’s forward Manny Patterson (12 pts) continues to show why he’s considered to be a top 10 prospect in 2017 class. Heralded junior Zion Morgan we charted for 7 pts while stand-out junior forward Nick Robertson played okay but only registered 3 pts; point guard Steve Williams added 10 pts. “Kenwood is certainly a program on the rise, they have a combination of good academics and now quality hoop.”
