Chicago Public High-Schools Conference Showdown: Simeon 71 – Morgan Park 66 (6:00 Tip)

Chicago Public High-Schools
Conference Showdown

Simeon 71 – Morgan Park 66 (6:00 Tip)

“The buzz centered around the red-south match-up was enormous, a full house on a Sunday evening got a first-hand evaluation of California transfer Marcus LoVett.  He didn’t disappoint the sell-out crowd, he shot 12 for 25 from the field and finished with a cool 29 points.  But a cold shooting night and Simeon’s length hampered any hopes of defeating their division rivals.  This marquee game was the last of a 5 game card, lived-up to the hype in some instances.  Illinois signee D.J. Williams recorded 21 points and grabbed nine boards, but the man who controlled the game at both ends was Nebraska recruit Ed Morrow.  The 6-7 senior man-handled the Mustangs with 15 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks, he went after any shot attempt at in the point, Morrow was impressive, he’s cat quick on both ends.  Prize junior point-guard Charlie Moore scored 11 points on a frigid shooting night, but battled/competed to the end.  Mustang’s Jamal Burton put himself on the 2016 grid with junkyard dog tendencies, he registered an athletic nine points and 12 rebounds.  Iowa signee Isaiah Moss added double-digit scoring.  Look for LoVett to get 50 a few games this season, in fact he’s no gunner, he finds the open-man consistently, “he’s such an electric talent, but no Derrick Rose at the high-school level.”  Simeon has a clash with St. Rita Friday night at Moraine Valley College and St. Rita better be ready.
