St. Rita 62 – Thornwood 48
Thornwood managed to hang-on for a half, down one at inter-mission, but they were doomed in the 2nd half marred by turn-overs/bad shots, a late in the game technical when they were only 4 points back staggered Thornwood hopes and not to mention a poor outside shooting display. If anyone including Simeon is to beat St. Rita, they better be able to make shots on the perimeter consistently. Rita’s Charles Matthews wrapped-up the night with 15 points, Tulane recruit Kain Harris added 15 and point-guard Armani Chaney glided his way for 12 markers. 6-9 unsigned senior Myles Carter was a force in the interior, registering some monster dunks, while swatting away at least 10 shots. Thornwood finished the season with 23-6 mark. Their lack of big game experience was exposed through ragged play and late in the game miscues.
