FROM THE 3RD ROW

Chicago area hoop fans are ecstatic about the success of Loyola-Chicago these days, not to mention the automatic NCAA Tournament bid they earned over the week-end by routing Illinois State in the Conference final. What's so hip about the potential storybook season, is coach Porter Moser is a local who grew up in Naperville, IL (Benet Academy) "he gives you that local vibe when you encounter him." He has six in state players on his roster including Simeon grad Donte Ingram who snagged Missouri Valley Tournament MVP Honors. Moser and his spirited team-oriented cast will make their first NCAA appearance since 1985, entering his seventh season Moser, was once a border-line maniac roaming the side-lines, now operates at a cool/calming frequency and you can clearly see the confidence & trust he exhibits with this group. Kudos to Loyola-a North Side Jesuit School for understanding the patience needed for Moser to see his building plan through. Congratulations!

Our area was saddened upon hearing about the death of Marquis Todd, a promising 6-9 post-player from T.F. North. The 2013 grad was a senior at William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was such a happy spirit and will be remembered for his contagious smile. We will miss him!
