TOP JUNIOR COLLEGE PROSPECTS IN OUR AREA (ILLINOIS)

TOP JUNIOR COLLEGE PROSPECTS IN OUR AREA (ILLINOIS)
“Likely candidate’s several could rise to be an elite talent, after a year for two of learning how to play”
1.                    Charles Payton        6-7           F              MM+                       Olympia
“If he can understand the mental aspects at hand, his athletic journey could be promising. A talented athlete with improving skills.”

2.                    Montrelle Barnes    6-2           G/F          MM                         Chicago North Lawndale
“A match-up nightmare, brings an offensive mind-set to the floor; tough as nails, could mask as a Tony Allen clone (who prepped at Crane HS) if he continues to develop.”

3.                    Josiah Wallace                        6-3           G             MM-LM+ Marshall (IL)
“Wearing out opponents in Southern Illinois, a streak shooter with a nice floor game & good understanding on how to play. Once was headed to Southern Indiana. Wallace, could prosper into a Middle Tennessee or SEMO recruit in a few years. Just saying!”

4.                    Elijah Ward                             6-5           WF          MM                         Joliet West
“Karrington Ward’s little brother might just be a late bloomer. Elijah, has the tools to develop into very good player, but often plagued by a low motor and a disinterest vibe.”

5.                    Maurice Edwards    6-3           G             MM-LM+ Alton
“A gifted athlete/talent, but harbor’s a low motor, in addition to cool on-court demeanor. When Mo Edwards comes to play, he is an electric talent.”

6.                    Octavis Parker                         6-2           G             MM-LM+ Chicago Kenwood
“Has struggled with consistency all year with his play. Often looking dis-engaged, clearly in the recent lopsided play-off lost to Whitney Young. He does possess the ability to score.”

7.                    Shomari Tillett        6-6           F              ---                            Chicago Hyde Park
“I’m going to roll the dice with my forecast regarding his journey. Has some talent to go along with superb length, but seems to lack a true understanding of how to play. Also, Shomari needs to compete better nightly. If those things transpire, we could be talking about a future Mid-Major recruit.”

8.                    Jalen Catledge                        6-3           G/F          LM+-LM   Richards
“Swing-man type, has scoring ability, looks often dis-engaged, but has a world of ability. Potential 2-way threat; has scoring ability with a strong body to go with it.”

9.                    Jeffrey Boyd                            6-3           G            LM                           Homewood-Flossmoor
“Wiry frame, streaky long-distance shooter, has to improve his decision-making and abandon the extra ball handling antics in his game. One day he could develop into a Mac Conference or Horizon League recruit.”

10.                 Michael Downing    6-8           F/C          LM                           Conant

“Lefty, is a very raw prospect at this moment, but we’ve seen leaps in his growth as a player since November. Has to get stronger and continue to develop an understanding of how to be effective at both ends.”

SOME OTHER CANDIDATES FOR JUCO TO FOLLOW

  •  Cortez King Parks 6-5 F H.F – “Slender built with a wealth of potential, athletic wing who can score & block shots.”
  • Cameron Gross 6-5 F Oak Pk – “Expectations have loomed; Cam, has some offensive punch to provide, getting himself into shape physically should be a high priority.”
  • Dolapo Olayinka 6-6 F Chicago Mather – “A project that could reap huge benefits for suitors in the long haul; has length, athleticism, and potential.”
