MY NEXT-UP LISTING OF 2017 UN-SIGNED
PROSPECTS
“This contingent guys we sort of put surveillance on; tracking their up-coming outings will be a priority before season ends.”
1.
Alton Thompson 6-4 F St.
Patrick –
“Big-time leaper, arguably one of our state’s best athletes. California import,
has been in the Chicago area for only one season, but has left his mark with
some breath-taking dunks. Probably needs a year of polish. He certainly is a
division one athlete. Chicago State should go at him hard!”
2.
Glen Abrams 6-3 G Rich-Central – “A slender athlete who
can get buckets in a flurry. More of a swingman type now. Has okay
ball-handling skills, particularly well enough to get in lanes. Drawing the
likes of Cleveland State & Chicago St.”
3.
Coreyoun Rushin 6-5 F Chicago
Westingouse – “Pretty good athlete, had a strong showing against Hyde Pk in a city playoff
game, viewers caught a glimpse of what kind of talent he possesses. The next
outing against Simeon didn’t fare as well. Most of us locals see him as a Low
Major recruit.”
4.
Elyjiah Williams 6-5 SF Evanston
– “Very
productive interior player. Can impact a game in many ways as he demonstrated
in a recent victory over Simeon. Excellent student - Ivy League and Patriot
League should pursue. Even a preferred walk-on situation at Northwestern could
be in the cards.”
5.
Brennen Woods 6-3 WG Harvest
Christian
– “Transferred over from an obscurity setting (Hampshire). Averages close to 20
points per outing. Has an excellent frame & displays some reliable
perimeter shooting. Intriguing prospect-red-shirt candidate at low to mid Div I
situation.”
6.
Cameron Bowles 6-3 F Chicago
Kenwood –
“Played his first 3 seasons at H.F.; his new setting hasn’t been as promising
as he’d hoped. A bouncy athlete, capable of making plays, still doesn’t have a
good understanding of how to play yet! Future should be bright with a year of
strengthening his body as well as polishing his game.”
7.
Manny Patterson 6-6 SF Chicago
Kenwood –
“Cagey fellow, good looking specimen, we all like Manny, in theory I do not
view him as a Division I recruit. Manny, hasn’t improved his skills much since
ninth-tenth grade, still struggles finishing at the rim. Back in the day a
prospect of his caliber would land at North Park College where he’d gained all-league
honors. Illinois Wesleyan*Cardinal Stritch College* Roosevelt College* Governor
State should be in his picture.”
8.
Tariq Deere 5-10 PG T.F.
North –
“Under-rated performer, poised with a good understanding of how to play. Has a
strong body to go along with a stellar floor game. Rebounds the ball well for
his size. One of our better floor generals in the area. Chicago State has shown
strong interest.”
9.
Kamron Reaves 6-1 PG Champaign
Centennial
– “A pass first lead guard with the capability of scoring in double digits.
Vastly under-rated, we may see Kam surface in the OVC.
10.
Rafael Cruz 6-2 G Chciago
Von Stueben – “Very good player, can distribute as well as score, could be a
preferred walk-on at a Div I setting, but might be more successful in a Chicago
State environment or Southern Indiana, Lewis U., Wis-Parkside situation, or
even Roosevelt College.
