RANDOM BARRAGE
Over the
weekend I checked out the Loyola-Chicago-Southern Illinois contest. It was
refreshing watching two of my former public league favorites: Milton Doyle
(Marshall) and Donte Ingram (Simeon) of Loyola having such success at the collegiate
level. I was also intrigued by Southern Illinois swing man and Edwardsville
native Armon Fletcher. He’s a red-shirt sophomore, a sleek performer with
possible pro potential we always felt in time he’d be an impact player. Now SIU
will have to find some formidable tactics to slow down his academic progression
because he is surely a candidate to bolt for greener pastures his 5th
year.” It’s a new ball game now!”
With the Junior
Class (2018) looking pummeled and slowly developing, we’ve come cross a couple
of prospects who might just covet some serious interest come spring:
Xavier Pinson 6-2 PG MM St.
Patrick
This slender
lad has got some game. Pinson has heighten our thoughts of where his abilities
could cart him. Slick & shrewd shoots it effectively and has his team
winning, which for us observers says a lot about a talent who orchestrates the
offense. He was MVP over the King Holiday guiding his team past Chicago Orr. Loyola-Chicago
and Valley Schools should pursue him.
Brandon Whiteside 6-1 G MM Glenbard
South
This kid
caught my attention one night when I was out sizing-up Tai Bibbs. Whiteside is
a smooth operator, capable of being a reliable perimeter shooter. He’s a graceful
performer but then he possesses that extra acceleration gear to blow by
defenders. If he stays on par with his development, we see un-charted success
for him.
