Morgan Park 73 – Bogan 69
(Fri., March 11th
– St. Laurence Sectional)
Memphis recruit Charlie Moore scored 26 points to lead
the Mustangs pass Red-South foe Bogan to capture the 3A sectional final. Early on the officials established they would
call this affair tightly which had the Mustangs at the charity stripe shooting
double bonus at the 2:00 mark in the first quarter. Bogan still managed to end the quarter ahead
15-9. Morgan Park went on a short 6-0
run to close the half leading by one 29-28.
The familiarity that blankets both programs you would believe one of
them would devise a scheme that would eventually overcome the emotional adrenalin
that captures this heated rivalry. Bogan
down 49-45 with 5 minutes remaining lost some zip with a series of miscues
while playing at a pace as if they were zig-zagging through rush-hour traffic
and never could comprehend pace, they were full throttle throughout the game in
a frantic frenzy and were badly beaten on the glass. Morgan Park’s 10-1 surge late in the fourth
pretty much ended the suspense. Western
Michigan recruit Jarrin Randle nailed some crucial buckets late, finished with
15. Junior Melo Burrell had 11. Bogan who finished the season (20-8) received
double digit scoring from Milwaukee-Wisconsin recruit Bryce Barnes 22, Marcus
Cole 13 and Buffalo recruit James Jones managed 12.
