“Matt Chastain Watch”
After viewing him this weekend he’s legit, I could
envision him in a mid-major setting, he can handle and create for others. The six foot six swing-man has become
something of a media heart-throb the last few weeks. He’s the Bloomington Pantograph player of the
year who averaged 26 points per outing and carried his mates on his back. In Chastain’s semi-final 1A debut on Friday
he recorded 18 markers – 12 rebounds – 6 blocks & 5 steals in a win but he
had 12 turn-overs while trying to do too much to impress an audience that he
has seemed to have captivated overnight.
Then in the championship game versus Chicago Leo he led his tiny school
to a 1A state title, while finishing with 21 points – 4 rebounds – 3
assists. At times he looked like the
second coming of Pistol Pete Maravich.
He’s a tremendous athlete who excels at blocking shots and he plays hard. Yes, he’s a respectable shooter on perimeter. I’m in!
