Top 10 Prospects in the 2018 Class

Top 10 Prospects in the 2018 Class
“Us area guys are still looking for this cast to take-on some real shape it does look like we have an abundance of talented mid-major point-guards.”

1.                               Tim Finke    6-6          F    Champaign Central – “Area folks viewed him Saturday (23rd) at Glenbard East shoot-out versus public league foe Kenwood.  Finke demonstrated a high basketball IQ in his game, he is a versatile scorer, athleticism could hinder him down-the-road arguably the No. 1 player in the class.”
2.                               Darius Beane              6-3 G          Carbondale – Eventually could become the No. 1 player in the class, was MVP of the Carbondale Holiday Classic, a smooth scorer, he will be a high-major recruit.
3.                               Raekwon Drake          6-5 F          Chicago Orr – Already possess stud tendencies, this chiseled-cut athlete has been viewed as one of the top athletic performers we have in our state, offensive tools steadily improving, more importantly he has big game experiences, Drake will probably round-out as a mid-major recruit and that’s ok because a fit means everything.  A10, Missouri Valley, Horizon League and MAC.
4.                               Talen Horton-Tucker       6-4       G/F      Chicago Simeon – Has been logging significant minutes recently, plays with a wealth of confidence & already has the ability to score in bundles; his burly physique seems to be shedding which could make him an attractive Big 10 recruit, but steady improvement could warrant such a look.
5.                               Landers Nolley II    6-5     WF       Chicago Curie – Excellent frame & length, has to do more than stand out on the perimeter and launch jumpers.  Could be labeled as a specialist type; reminds me of Eddie Johnson a former Westinghouse star who played 20 years in the NBA.
6.                               Ayo Dosunmu          6-2   PG       Chicago Morgan Park – “Has sprouted to a lanky six foot two, looks to be groomed as the heir-apparent to star Charlie Moore, this kid see’s the floor extremely well and has notable idea on how to play, capable of knocking down shots on the perimeter with Irvin’s being producers he could surface as a high-major recruit.”
7.                               Xavier Castenada   5-11   PG       Chicago Young – “Has garnered some big game experience, needs to simplify his game some. Plays with a ton of confidence, but at times he has a tendency to try and do too much, he is a gamer, mid-majors could be his route.”
8.                               Marquan “Bay-Bay” Williams  5-7       PG       Perspective MSA – Resembles the steady diet of play-makers Chicago was traditionally noted for producing back in the day.  He’s poised & understands game climate.  Also he has offensive weapons, but sees the floor and distributes at a high-rate, needs to improve perimeter shooting, has leadership qualities.  Looks like a mid-major gem.
9.                               Camron Donatian    6-2   G          West Aurora – A tough minded combo guard, he’s the leader for an over-achieving cast.  Last season as a freshman he gained a wealth of experience, laboring as a part-time starter.  Donatian who made all-tournament at Pontiac, he has strong enough ball-handling ability to get to the rim, needs to be more consistent on the perimeter, looks like mid-majors may find him attractive.

10.                           Cardell McGee         6-3   G          Springfield Lanphier – Excellent skill package, steady scorer, very patient, doesn’t try and complicate the game; one of my favorite in the class; very versatile, don’t be surprised if he lands at St. Louis U.
