Naperville Central 47 – Plainfield East 43
It’s amazing to me just watching a talented east team that features 4 or 5 division one prospects, including Illini bound guard Aaron Jordan, to not have the ability to pull-out close games scripted for them to win. Jordan was unable to capture any late game heroics, he missed 2 crucial foul shots late, then was off-the-mark with a 3 pointer in the waning seconds. He managed 11 points in a ball game that he clearly was the best player on the floor, taken nothing away from his talents, Jordan lacks that ingredient in which most elite players have fueled in their tank, “finding a way to help his team win.” Illinois will need patience with him! East big-man James Claar has to work on his body and six foot six junior Elyjah Goss has to put more emphasis on improving his skill set, both mid-major prospects could be major contributors one day. Central junior guard Immanuel Rugamba continues to intrigue me with his size & quickness and his ability to take care of the ball. He could be a rising prospect in the next 6 months!
Freshman guard Ayo Dosunmu of Westinghouse dropped 40 points on Crane Tues evening, he also registered 7 assists. Considered by many a top 5 talent in the 2018 class, he has consistently recorded some splendid outings where he has guided his squad to victory. Heady & shrewd.
Mather’s six foot one wing Travon Bell sprayed North-Side Prep for 43 markers on Tues (01-20-2015), giving every indication he has been over-looked in the junior class rankings. Is a streaky shooter; once he gets going from the perimeter, it would take a cooling system to stop him.
