State of Affairs 10/24/2014 Reported

State of Affairs

(October 24th, 2014 Reported)

Lincoln (IL) sharp shooter Gavin Block gave a verbal to Ohio University a short while ago.  Block demonstrates a high basketball I.Q. at six foot five, Gavin is destined to have a banner career at the MAC conference school.

De LaSalle 6-4 wiry guard Karl Harris gave a verbal to LaSalle University last weekend, marking what we believe in these parts as an acquisition that’s primed for success.  Chicago native Will Bailey (Dunbar) did his homework.  “The explorers will continue to make a push in the Illinois area.

The Isaiah Moss watch continues to be interesting on a weekly basis.  The much coveted Simeon stand-out has drawn offers from DePaul, Rhode Island, Pittsburgh, Iowa, LaSalle, and Cincinnati.   Texas El Paso most recently enjoyed a home visit with him.  Also, Iowa State just offered.  “Grades may be his issue.”

St. Rita 6-8 big man Miles Carter has a scheduled visit to Seton Hall next weekend, which might be a stretch or so for him, but it’s obvious the pickings are slim with front-court assistance everywhere.  Carter recently had a visit from Old Dominion, while LaSalle continues to monitor his progress as well.

Pittsburgh came in to do a school visit with St. Rita six foot three shooting guard Kain Harris a few weeks ago.

In Dixon, IL known as the founder of corporate giant Walgreens, basketball has never been a noted eccentricity for the small community but six foot eight “do everything” forward Isaiah Roby might be a part of some rebirth in this sleepy town.  The top 10 2016 stand-out gave Nebraska a verbal late last week, marking the 3rd player from Illinois that the Corn-Huskers have zoomed in on.  Roby will be a good one for that upcoming Big 10 Program.

Elijah Thomas, a 6 foot 9, 245 pound four-star forward from Lancaster, Texas a University of Illinois recruiting target gave an oral commitment to Texas A&M last week.  In addition to Illinois Thomas had considered SMU, LSU and Oklahoma State.  Now the Illini’s focus will be in pursuit of one-time Warren Township 6 foot 7 forward Darius Paul who’s currently saddled in Texas at a junior college.  Forward Carlton Bragg remains on their watch list.  The Illini have on scholarship available in its 2015 class.

6-7 Lake Forest forward
Evan Boudreaux made a decision to attend Dartmouth.  His verbal to them certainly wasn’t a surprise.  He should become a dynamite player in the Ivy League.

Proviso East’s high-scoring combo guard Kalin Fisher chose Southern Illinois Edwardsville.  The OVC conference could be a situation where he can display his prowess as a scorer.
