News: Morgan Park - LoVett
Two time (2013-2014) 3A state champion Morgan Park received a jolt recently when much ballyhooed senior guard Marcus LoVett transferred in from California. The 6’0” lefty guard is best described as a high-scoring version of Memphis Grizzlies star Mike Conley. LoVett has already suited-up for a two high schools in Cali. Most recently being San Gabriel Academy in Southern California which is a setting equivalent to a 1A or 2A level in Illinois. Morgan Park had a relatively quiet off season, after losing some star power from last year’s state championship squad, so I can see why coach Nick Irvin and his clan could be so fired-up about LoVett’s arrival with only 2 returning proven contributors in stellar point-guard Charlie Moore and reserve guard Jarrin Randle who performed well down-the-stretch last season. LoVett averaged 31 points as a freshman, then tallied 36.7 as a sophomore. Most national scouting services had him listed in the top 80 category, while it was reported that Kansas assistant Jerrance Howard offered on the spot Monday Oct. 29th. “The Chicago area has a slew of talented guards that probably will circle his name on a bedroom wall for a later confrontation.” Stay tuned . . . .
