PLUGGED

Morgan Park’s Blue Chipper Ayo Dosunmu gave Illinois Coach Brad Underwood an early holiday gift when the six-foot five point-guard selected the Illini over Wake Forest recently. The classy thoughtful guard, rated 20th by rivals, will illustrate the kind of dynamic talent the Illini fan base yarn for. “Congratulations go out to their staff.”

Hyde Park Academy Varsity Coach Javon Mamon will join Porter Moser’s Program at Loyola-Chicago as director of operations. Mamon’s late arrival to the Loyola staff was a beautiful surprise. It’s a situation where he will grow in the position & begin a successful path. Moser continues to tap into his resources in the city particularly the public-school system. “It’s called giving brothers an opportunity to push forward.” Re-affirming his stance in a time where our climate poses so much racial and social tension.

Iowa State substantiated their status this fall as a major player in the Chicago area for our Elite talent. Thursday’s verbal from Simeon’s talented Big guard Talen Horton-Tucker was huge, coming after significant commitments from Hinsdale South’s 6-6 Zion Griffin, and 6-10 George Conditt from Corliss. Assistant Coach Daniyal Robinson, a Rock Island native and former Loyola-Chgo Assistant, just displayed what we often knew about him as an ace recruiter, landing this trio speaks high volumes of what the Cyclones plan to do in the area now. During the 80’s & 90’s they suited-up Chicago area players frequently. Kudos to D Rob…

Bloomington’s six foot seven, high-energy Forward Chris Payton has elected to stick around town when he pledged to Illinois State recently. He becomes the second 2019 prospect to commit, remember now Markese Jacobs gave Kansas a verbal last year and we’re interested to see how it will play out.

“Just so you know” one-time Willowbrook & Thornton stand-out Alonzo Verge is wrecking-shop in Juco at Moberly. Verge had an exhilarating outing at Johnny Logan’s Juco Jamboree last weekend in Carbondale where several colleges labeled him as perhaps the best Juco Point-Guard in the country. That doesn’t surprise most of us!
