Recently I was having a casual evening with some agents and our dialogue switched into a full gear striking a nerve leading up to the depletion of Blue Chip talent in the Chicago area. I went into a defensive mode lobbying while gushing over the prized 2020 crop of promising prospect that could propel our town back to Elite status where we were once revered nationally. These guys in front of me didn’t hesitate to remind me of all the bust we’ve experienced with over-rated/overly hyped hoopers who either didn’t make it to the NBA or just hung on by the threads and lingering around the G League affiliates. These were players that were ranked 1 through 5 in their respective classes coming out of High School. I’ve created a list of players who didn’t necessarily have a household name during school years or bolster McDonald All-American clippings, but they thrived on the next level collegiately. Most went to the right setting out of High School.
