OTHER ROUND-UP NEW’S AROUND THE ILLINOIS HOOP SCENE

OTHER ROUND-UP NEW’S AROUND THE ILLINOIS HOOP SCENE:

Bill Self’s Kansas program continues to keep an Illinois product on his roster, he nabbed a good one when he landed Chicago Uplift Guard Markese Jacobs.  Self and his staff will have to wait a few years before they get this wizardry guard on campus.  The 2019 prospect has some resemblance to former NBA standout guard Gus Williams the Wizard.  Jacob’s is the first in the 2019 class, to give a verbal, we have a surplus of talent with that group, expect more to commit.

Northwestern obtained a verbal from 6’5” swingman Anthony Gaines from Kingston, NY, who currently hoops at New Hampton Prep.  Reports out in the east coast indicates Chris Collins and his staff landed a good one.

Indiana Assistant Bob Judson rolled into familiar territory and grabbed a verbal from promising 2017 recruit Justin Smith out of Stevenson.  Arguably one of our better prospects in the state.  The high-flying swingman should have Hoosier fan base in frenzy.

“Yes, I’m just reporting”, Six foot seven Elgin-Larkin forward Christian Negron tore his ACL a week or two ago in a fall league game.  Negron, regarded as a top 15 prospect in a sagging 2017 class might be out for the season; conflicting reports differ.  We have often mentioned that fall league play can be a potential hazard to a student/athlete’s regular season.  The leagues are just too long, eight or nine weeks prior to the opening of the season borders on troubling encounter.  We wish Christian a speedy recovery.
