OBSERVATIONS

The unimaginable happened to one of our favorite sons, current Wisconsin Assistant Howard Moore a proud Chicagoan, lost his wife and their daughter in a car accident in Michigan. A head-on collision caused by another driver going the wrong way on the M-14 Freeway. According to reports, the other driver a 23-year old woman was also killed. Moore, a Public League stand-out at Taft H.S. grew up on the west-side of Chicago was also injured along with his son. Continued prayers and well wishes for this family.

Former Chicago Vocational star Juwan Howard was recently introduced as the Michigan Basketball Coach, taking over for John Beilein who rebuilt the Wolverines Program into National Power before departing to coach the NBAs Cavaliers. Howard, a stand-out All-American at Michigan returns to his alma mater after spending six years coaching as an Assistant for the Miami Heat. Many detractors question his credentials, but the Public League product will thrive in the College environment especially surrounded with a strong staff able to connect with today’s hoop culture.

A.J. Casey, the top prospect in our 2022 Class has elected to leave perennial power Simeon to return to his south-suburban roots. He attended Arbor Middle in Oak Forest, so on many fronts the decision wasn’t much of a stunner. There have been some rumblings regarding Casey departed the city for months, the only head-scratching detail of the decision is he heading to the Down-Strutton Tinley Park Program next fall. Most observers including the Casey’s family must be well aware of the 13-67 record Tinley Park has languished in the previous three seasons. According to sources, the family’s decision wasn’t entirely based on basketball.

At the Spot-Liter we strive towards accuracy with the information we provide for our readers. We failed in our previous report, when indicating Simeon’s Antonio Reeves inked on with Wisconsin. Reeves actually pledged to play next season at Illinois State.
